Fun Fact
Chocolate comes from the cacao tree, which is traditionally grown in shady environments, and can be easily integrated into agroforestry systems alongside banana, balsam, and cedar trees. Being part of a larger forest ecosystem protects the trees from wind, improves soil health, and leads to more diverse water sources.

  • Look for a Fair Trade certification to ensure farmers were paid a fair price, and that your chocolate was produced without child labor.
  • Read the ingredient label to make sure the chocolate doesn’t contain any emulsifiers, soy, or artificial sweeteners.
  • Look for a regenerative certification to ensure the highest soil health standards are met!
