Kiss the Ground's
Regenerative Transition Grants

Applications are now open!

Kiss the Ground is bridging the gap. Since 2013, we’ve worked directly with farmers, ranchers, and various partners in the Regenerative Movement to catalyze the transition of millions of acres into regenerative agriculture for our wellness, water, and climate.

Kiss the Ground Awards $500,000 in Grants to U.S. Farmers & Ranchers

Regenerative Transition Grants

We recognize the risks and barriers that come with adopting regenerative practices, from lack of training and equipment to economic and systemic challenges. Our Regenerative Transition Grants aim to support farmers of diverse backgrounds in their regenerative journeys, including those with limited access to resources.
We’ve received and overwhelming response and high demand for our equipment, infrastructure, and supplies grants. This application is now closed.
Please note that training grants will remain open until we’ve awarded all 150 grants.

Training Grant

Kiss the Ground will cover $1,000 of tuition costs for in-person training. See below for more information on our training partners.

Training and Equipment Grant Partners

Kiss the Ground works with a trusted group of leading training programs to support soil health education (below) as well as regenerative farmers who will help advise on our equipment grant application selection process.

Soil Health Academy

Soil Health Academy’s on-farm, hands-on schools teach farmers and ranchers how to increase profitability, build resiliency into the land, decrease input cost, and improve the nutrient density of food and agricultural products. The SHA curriculum features a combination of classroom training and practical field exercises conducted over three days and is based on the three pillars of understanding: mindset, skills and tools. Host farms/ranches are currently implementing regenerative practices so the practices and principles can be fully illustrated to the students. Registration includes access to Regen Ag 101, a self-paced, online course featuring videos lectures, case studies, and supporting research that is centered on the 6-3-4  approach (6 principles of soil health, 3 rules of adaptive stewardship and the 4 ecosystem processes) which contains the basic principles and rules that facilitate successful application and implementation of regenerative agriculture that Gabe Brown and Dr. Allen Williams have pioneered over the past 30 years.

The Savory Institute has a global network of accredited learning hubs that offer Holistic Management training to support their local farming, ranching, or pastoralist communities. Offerings may differ by location, with some Hubs offering week-long Holistic Management intensives for those who are wanting to learn the entire curriculum and others offering shorter courses covering individual modules. The full curriculum includes the Foundations of Holistic Management, Holistic Planned Grazing, land/infrastructure planning, financial planning, and ecological monitoring. Through these modules participants will learn to develop a contextually-appropriate pathway for managing land and livestock that regenerates ecological, economic, and community health. Course offerings include in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats. For those wishing to become accredited Holistic Management educators, these are Savory-accredited courses that meet the training requirements for becoming a Savory Accredited Professional.

Training is available for participating Savory Hubs below. Savory Hubs are continually adding courses to their calendars, so please check with your local hub for up-to-date options for 2025.

Kiss the Ground will offer 50 training grants exclusive to BIPOC farmers in partnership with Soul Fire Farm. If you would like to apply for this training program, please wait until the application opens in February 2025 and apply through Soul Fire Farm’s application

The Farming In Relationship to Earth (FIRE) Immersion is a 5 day program designed for aspiring, beginning, and intermediate growers of Black, Indigenous, and Latine heritage to gain basic skills in regenerative farming in a culturally relevant, supportive, and joyful environment. Through our immersions we equip hundreds of farmers with the land-based skills needed to reclaim leadership as farmers and food justice organizers in their communities, to heal their relationship with earth, and to imagine bolder futures. Using land as a tool to heal from racial trauma, we work to reverse the dangerously low percentage of farms being owned and operated by people of color and increase the leadership of people of color in the food justice movement. This program is available to BIPOC farmers only.

If you would like to recommend a training program, please email [email protected] and we will consider your request.

“Modern industrial agriculture has led to declining rural communities and agricultural lifestyles. We believe that small farms and agriculturally engaged communities are a part of what makes this concept of regenerative agriculture so appealing. This more holistic and indigenous approach to farming and community living is a part of the solution to a healthier planet.”

Farmer Transition Program (2020-2023)

32 farmers and ranchers received holistic support through regenerative agriculture training, one-on-one mentorship, and soil testing. We recognize that farmers, businesses, investors, and policy makers need to see measurable change to show that soil carbon sequestration is possible and regenerative agriculture is profitable.

250 scholarships awarded to farmers and ranchers for Soil Health Academy’s Regen Ag 101 on-demand course.

27 scholarships awarded for Regrarians REX® Online Farm Planning Program.

Kiss the Ground awarded $135,400 in grants for seven on-the-ground projects across California and Minnesota. The grant was designed to support farmers who are actively participating in regeneration of their local foodsheds and creatively identifying ways to address climate extremes, biodiversity loss, water quality, food security, and other resource concerns.

In the meantime... where do I start?

Kiss the Ground, with the help of many other organizations and individuals, has curated a Farmer Resource Guide to help farmers and ranchers access the resources they need to transition to regenerative agriculture.

We are immensely grateful to the Humble community for their unbelievable generosity. Without them, much of this grant would not be possible.

Each donation to Kiss the Ground translates to the transition of farmland into regenerative. For every $100 donated to Kiss the Ground, we inspire and catalyze the transition of 10 acres into regenerative agriculture, working directly with farmers. Read our full impact here.
