Kiss the Ground’s Approach

Dear Kiss the Ground Community,

Kiss the Ground promotes regeneration and healthy soil as a viable solution for our wellness, water, and climate crisis. Since 2013, we have inspired and catalyzed the transition of millions of acres into regenerative agriculture, working directly with farmers and consultants – now we aim to triple our impact by 2030.

Our most valuable contribution in the early years was collaborating with filmmakers Josh and Rebecca Tickell on the film, Kiss The Ground, which was inspired by our work. Now a leading voice in the Regenerative Movement, we are committed to measuring our impact and bringing Regeneration to the Tipping Point. (thank you, Malcolm Gladwell!)

Our approach is rooted in an inclusive awareness-based theory of change. Currently, only 4% of the U.S. adult population is aware of the power of regenerative agriculture as a solution for our wellness, water, and climate crisis. Raising awareness inspires hope which leads to action, and drives results.

Through our Storytelling, Education, and Partnerships programs, we increase awareness and build momentum within the Regenerative Movement. This critical work leads to actions– ultimately on farms and ranches – creating healthier ecosystems, food systems, communities, and importantly, human and planetary health.

Awareness (Storytelling)

While most people care about our wellness decline, many are unaware of the intrinsic connection it has to regenerative agriculture. To raise awareness, we utilize our Storytelling program, generating diverse content to meet people where they are.

From short-form entertaining and educational content on social media to mini-documentaries called Stories of Regeneration to full-length documentaries Kiss the Ground and Common Ground with film partner Big Picture Ranch, there is something for everyone. These stories are essential to propel the movement forward. They inspire and inform. We measure the success of our Storytelling by audience growth, engagement, and surveys; our focus is 3X growth by 2030, or, simply put, 12% awareness, which is the Tipping Point.

Action (Education)

“I had no idea” is a common and welcome response to our Storytelling. This, in turn, often motivates people to take action. Similar to our approach with Storytelling, we have created a wide range of actionable steps to support anyone in their regenerative journey, knowing that part of being inclusive is meeting people where they are, in line with the Rumi quote that inspired our name: “There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.”

We regularly publish free one-page Regenerative Resources while also creating more in-depth, on-demand learning courses. Regenerative Resources help curious shoppers navigate food labels, make better-informed purchasing decisions, discover local regenerative farms and products, and ultimately identify ways to support the Regenerative Movement.

Our on-demand courses dig deeper, helping individuals and teams learn, and then support regenerative practices as advocates.

Outcomes (Partnerships)

Together, awareness and action yield outcomes. One of our primary measured outcomes is farmers and ranchers transitioning their acres to regenerative practices. For every $100 donated to Kiss the Ground, we inspire and catalyze the transition of 10 acres into regenerative agriculture, working directly with farmers, consultants, and partners.

Our Partnership program consists of several dozen earnest companies of varying sizes across multiple industries who support our work annually– with each company’s financial support of our work ultimately driving the transition of land to regenerative. This program begins with internal education in year one then moves on to spreading the Regenerative message to their audiences.

Visit our Impact Statement page for more information, join our email list, watch a story, share a regenerative resource, and support our work as you see fit. Please join all of us at Kiss the Ground as we work to restore our health and wellness.

Sincerely,

Evan Harrison
